UTHM Forge reaches 1,751 builders
we set the line a year ago at 500. we just crossed four times that, and we are not slowing down.
1,751 builders across UTHM's 9 faculties. that is the number on the counter as of this morning, and it is one we are quietly proud of.
when we kicked off UTHM Forge in 2024, we picked 500 as a stretch goal for year one. we hit it in nine months. then we set a stretchier goal: 1,500 by month 18. we hit that in 16.
the secret is boring: we paid people to ship, and we shipped a thing that made the people who shipped want to stick around.
what changed this quarter
- the bounty board crossed RM 12,500 paid out, with a median time-to-PR-merge of 4 days.
- the circles directory went from 6 to 12 active groups. UTHM Edge alone shipped 14 PRs to public OSS repos.
- the UTHM Sandbox uptime monitor (built by
@tsara.fpm) crossed 200M probe requests without a false negative.
what is next
we are holding the bar at "ship something every sprint" for the next 12 months. if you have not joined a circle yet, do. it is the single best way to keep momentum.
